Pavers that stay flat, tight and good-looking.
Concrete and clay paver patios with a compacted base, edge restraints and polymeric sand joints, in colors and patterns that fit the house.
- Pavers: Concrete or clay, many colors and shapes
- Base: Compacted stone in layers, with a bedding layer of sand
- Edges: Concrete or plastic edge restraints

What it is, and why it matters.
Pavers come in a huge range of colors, textures and shapes, and they are one of the most popular ways to build a patio. They are also easy to repair, because individual pavers can be lifted and reset. Whether they stay flat depends mostly on the base under them.
We build paver patios for homes in Nashville and across Middle Tennessee, from simple squares to patios with curves, seat walls and fire features. We excavate to the right depth, compact the base in layers and finish with edge restraints and joint sand.
Four things done right.
Layers compacted
Base stone is compacted in lifts, so the surface does not settle over time.
Edge restraints
A firm edge keeps the field from spreading and the joints from opening.
Polymeric sand joints
Joint sand locks the pavers together and slows weeds and ants.
Slope for drainage
A gentle slope sends water away from the house.

Plan the patio
We measure the area, check the slope and choose the paver and pattern with you.
- 02
Excavate and build the base
Soil is removed, and base stone is placed and compacted.
- 03
Set the pavers
The bedding layer is screeded, pavers are laid and cut, and edges are set.

Sand and finish
Joints are filled with polymeric sand and the patio is compacted and cleaned.

Paver Patios: common questions
How long do pavers last?
A well-built paver patio can last for decades. The base and the edge restraints matter most, and individual pavers can be lifted and reset if the ground moves.
Do pavers need to be sealed?
Sealing is optional. It can deepen color, resist stains and firm up joint sand, and it needs to be redone every few years. We explain the pros and cons.
